9 Reasons Why You Should Never Use Essay Writing Services at Uni

There is no doubt that you have come across an essay writing service before and maybe considered using one. But they’re really not worth the trouble, so read on to find out why …

You’re hungover, left your essay until the last minute, and you’re about to start a sleepless night at the library or you’ve lost your notes (read: didn’t write any). We know it is tempting to hire an essay writing service.

But it’s a pretty safe way to get caught by your college and accused of academic misconduct, jeopardizing your entire college experience. It’s not worth it no matter how good it sounds.

Still not convinced? Well, here are the top reasons why you should never use an essay writing service …

1. Severe penalties

Your university accepted you into their institution because they thought you were going to be successful. They want to make sure that the playing field is level for all students, which is why they discourage the use of essay writing services.

As mentioned above, using one could get you charged with academic misconduct. This is because using such services is against university policy. You could be kicked out of your university, receive a hefty fine, or be sued. This will vary by university, but the penalties will be severe.

2. Impact on career

Getting good grades by cheating misleads your university and future employers. It also means you won’t develop valuable skills that potential employers are looking for, from writing skills to research skills and meeting deadlines. If you graduated from college with a first-class degree, employers will expect you to have certain skills, and that might cause you to not perform as expected in the real world.

Plus, if you’re not caught immediately, that doesn’t mean you’re safe forever. Degrees can be revoked in the future once you have left university. If your data is still saved and retrieved as plagiarized, your degree could be at risk.

It can also negatively affect a university’s reputation if it is discovered that people have issued degrees based on plagiarized work, which could also negatively impact your future career.

3. They are a waste of money

Essay writing services don’t come cheap, and for over £ 60 aren’t there better things you could spend your money on? And if they’re cheap, chances are they won’t be professionally written.

Plus, many of these essay writing services fabricate their reviews. So if they look like they have 5 stars, it’s probably not legit. Therefore, is it worth wasting your money…?

4. You could get ripped off

Many of the services of these websites do not actually exist. Some of these websites will take your money and be gone, and there’s nothing you can do about it. Even if you get a try, it will be very vague how they advertise their services and their refund policy will be very solid, so there is no guarantee that you will receive what you expect to receive.

5. They beat the point of going to college

We’re sure you’ve decided to go to college for more than just nightlife, right? You’ve chosen a topic that interests you or a topic that you want a career in, so why don’t you want to read more about your topic and finish your essay?

If you don’t want to complete the job, perhaps you should consider an apprenticeship where you can learn on the job while taking academic modules.

6. Plagiarism Technology Improvements

As with everything, technology is advancing and improving, and that also means plagiarism software. You’ve probably agreed that your university can store your essays and data forever. This means that as the software improves, your tests can be systematically verified. It can also mean writing and linguistic style.

As mentioned earlier, your degree can be revoked at any time if you are found guilty of academic misconduct, so it’s really not worth it.

7. Long-standing consequences

Along with academic misconduct and the impacts on your career, you’ll always know you didn’t deserve that degree if you didn’t do anything about the job. You might not think so, but you’ll feel guilty if you get a good grade knowing that it wasn’t your own hard work that got you there.

8. There is no guarantee that it is anonymous

You cannot guarantee your anonymity to the authors and individuals behind these websites, so it could come back to bite you in the future. Apparently, many ghost writers are lecturers, academics, or part-time academic staff!

9. You are not guaranteed to get a good grade

If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is. There is no guarantee that you will get a first class grade, and if you do, it may look suspicious to your teachers if you don’t generally produce first class work.

No matter what these services claim to be able to do, they won’t know as well as you what your teacher expects, the formatting of your essay, and where to cite and reference sources. But hey, don’t take my word for it, listen to some of the people who have tested these essay writing services.
