Mokokchung, September 22 (MExN): An overview of science and social science research was given at a one-day workshop on ‘Research Papers Publications’ organized by the Research Development Committee, Fazl Ali College (FAC), Mokokchung September 21.

In the first session, Dr Suraiya Tabassum, Associate Professor, Sarojini Naidu Center for Women’s Studies, Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi, spoke on “Social Science Research: An Introduction and Ideas”.

During her presentation, she stressed that social science research should explore, study and incorporate policy recommendations in a healthy way so that researchers are able to shed light on the realities of research topics.

Dr Tabassum then moved on to launch research with motivation and with a clear intention of heart and mind to bring about a change in the social system with the research we pursue.

Among other things, she noted that a researcher must be open to any element of surprise during the results, have integrated reality checks as well as remain in charge of methodologies.

A strong theoretical framework is needed to navigate literature reviews, research tools and analyzes, she stressed.

After his presentation, other ideas and doubts were addressed in the participatory question-and-answer session, moderated by Dr Temjennaro Jamir, Assistant Professor, Department of Education.

Presenting “Research Papers Publications – Scientific Perspectives” at the second session, Dr Toka Swu, Assistant Professor, Department of Chemistry, University of Pondicherry stressed the importance of fundamental knowledge, gathered information on methodologies / techniques and a positive attitude.

Drawing on his own research and publications, he has developed research writing techniques that every research should consider in order to avoid failure during writing and submission of publications.

Dr Swu further demonstrated that he uses the Mendeley App, a free citation tool, and Turnitin, a plagiarism detection service, to facilitate SEO in research articles / journals and to check for plagiarism, respectively. The second session ended with a question-and-answer session moderated by Dr Aolemla Pongener, Assistant Professor, Department of Botany.

The first session was moderated by Dr Aotemshi I, Assistant Professor, Department of Mathematics, while Dr Imliwati Longkumer, Assistant Professor, Department hosted the second session.

Earlier, FAC R Vice-Principal Arenla Aier, while welcoming resource persons, stressed the importance and need for research-oriented activities and publications for academic institutions. Dr Lanurela, FAC IQAC coordinator made the concluding remarks.

A total of 55 FAC professors and participants from other colleges joined the workshop, a press release from the Information and Publicity Unit, FAC said.

FAC webinar discusses pre-colonial Naga politics

Mokokchung, September 22 (MExN): The Political Science Association (PSA) under the Department of Political Science of Fazl Ali College (FAC) Mokokchung hosted a webinar on “Precolonial Naga Politics: Powers and Functions of the Village Council” on September 21 via Google Meet.

During the webinar, the resource person, Dr A Nshoga, Director of Peren Government College, highlighted the different forms of government among the different Naga tribes in the past, guided by customary conventions and laws on various topics. . College professors, students and participants from other institutions actively participated in the session, a press release from the Information and Publicity Unit, FAC said.
