Hft Brand Remember A Charity Week With Free Will Writing Service

Young people don’t think much about wills and, as Hft’s supporter base is largely over the age of 70, the national learning disabilities charity is offering a free will-writing service to encourage young adults to write their very first will.

A recent research report on wills and estates from the IRN found that fewer than four in 10 adults in the UK have made a will and 5.4 million adults don’t know where to start when it comes to writing a will.

The free will-writing service is being offered ahead of Remember a Charity Week, which runs September 5-11, and encourages more people to consider making a charitable donation in their will.

Michael Sergison, who recently became a supporter of Hft, made his very first will with Bequeathed, the charity’s free will partner.

“I just turned 30 and suddenly realized that I needed to make a plan for my future finances. The process was so easy; I’ve avoided making a will in the past because I thought it would be confusing. and complicated, but The Legacy made it all clear to me. I’ll definitely be telling my friends and family about the free offer,” he says.

“Considering there is a cost of living crisis where we have seen the price of our bills, fuel and food rise rapidly, it is really reassuring to be able to protect my finances for free.

“I love supporting worthy causes, but with my finances so tight right now, I’ve had to reconsider how I support charities. I’m really proud to have left a gift in my will to Hft and their amazing work, so I can always support them without it affecting my day to day living expenses.

Gifts in Wills Manager at Hft, Katie Tennyson, says: “If the Covid-19 pandemic has taught us anything, it’s that life is very unpredictable. As a charity, we are proud to be able to offer this amazing service free of charge to anyone over the age of 18. But if you can support people with learning disabilities with a gift in your will at the same time, it can help us adapt to any eventuality and ensure that the needs of the people we help always come first. whatever the future.
