Kohima Educational Society Announces Essay Contest | MorungExpress

Kohima, September 24 (MExN): In keeping with its broader educational mandate and to encourage reading and writing within Naga society, the Kohima Educational Society (KES) is organizing an essay writing competition on the theme “Challenges faced by a traditional society going through modernity”.

The top winning and selected essays will be published in book form as part of the report, organizers said in a press release. The competition is organized with the aim of encouraging writing among all age groups and to experience the power of words and to derive strength and responsibility from them; encourage enthusiastic writers to document folklores and family history; and emerge as a transparent and neutral platform for sharing ideas that build the human spirit.

The Essay Writing Competition will take place in the categories with the following structures:

There will be no registration fees. Handwritten essays will be rejected. Entrants are requested to submit typewritten essays via email to [email protected]

Entries must enclose the full name; Date of Birth; Identity Proof for Address: Scanned Valid School ID/Aadhar Card/Driver’s License or Voter ID Card; and contact number.

A set of six judges, three for each category, will evaluate the competition. Judges will be selected from among prominent members of society in their respective fields.

The results will be announced by the end of November with the 3rd Annual Dr Gordon Graham Prize for Naga Literature, 2021. Winners of the essay competition will also have the opportunity to interact with senior Naga writers.
