Lily Thomas 2.0 Memorial Lecture “Lawyers As Inventors” Essay Writing Contest [Last Date For Submission- 4th December]
On the second anniversary of the death of the famous late lawyer Lily Thomashis law firm, Lily Thomas and Saju Jakob, lawyers and solicitorsget organized “Lawyers as Inventors” Essay Competition, as part of the inaugural series of commemorative lectures on the Constitution, which includes prizes of up to Rs. 10,000/-.
The subject of this year’s competition, which will be held as part of the second edition of the series of commemorative lectures in memory of Adv. Lily Thomas, a pioneer in public interest litigation in India, will be:
“Scope and Scope of Liability/Liability of a Public Official, in India, for Failure to Discharge Public Duties or Protect Fundamental Rights in the Discharge of Public Duties”.
The Essay Writing Competition invites/calls for papers on the important topic of accountability of offices holding public officials, especially civil servants, central/state governments, PSUs, nationalized banks and other officials who use public money for the public cause.
The competition is organized for the purpose of promotion of lawyers as INVENTORS for social transformation and the transmission of the importance of morality and constitutional values in public life.
The competition is open to law students, lawyers, legal professionals, journalists and academics, as well as anyone interested in other related fields.
Last date for submission: December 04, 2021 at 11:45 p.m.
Commemorative conference: December 12, 2021 at 4:15 p.m.
Declaration of results: December 12, 2021
Word limit: 1600-1800 words (excluding footnotes and abstract).
No co-author is allowed. Multiple entries for the same authors are not allowed.
Individual attachments: Last name; contact details; current academic status (if applicable); Year, University/College, etc. committing to guarantee originality.
Quote style: 19th edition of the blue book.

Winner: Rs. 10,000/- with a certificate of appreciation.
First runner-up: Rs. 5,000/- with a certificate of appreciation.
Second runner-up: Rs. 3,000/- with a certificate of appreciation.
The next seven participants will each receive Rs. 1,000/- and a certificate of appreciation. The articles of the top three candidates will be published on our official website. The top three entrants will have two minutes to present their papers at the Memorial Lecture. Active participants who attend the memorial conference on December 12, 2021 at 4:15 p.m. will receive a certificate of participation.
All interested participants should send their papers with abstracts by December 04, 2021 with the subject “Lawyers as Inventors”. Essays should be emailed to [email protected]. Participants must send their personal data/contact details. Any late submission will not be considered. The results will be announced on December 12, 2021 in the Memorial Lecture, details of which will be uploaded later/soon.
